Mangrove Lagoon - The Deep, Hull, UK  The Deep’ is the UK’s largest public aquarium. Having being involved in the design and construction of the original displays in 1999-2001 I was commissioned to re-imagine the lagoon exhibit as a more immersive visitor experience. The new design of this 200,000 litre tank represents a rock-island creek typical of the Palau Islands of Micronesia. It features water-eroded limestone cliffs, ledges, caves and pinnacles; numerous highly-detailed replica mangrove trees;  complex and textured reef structures; two waterfalls; over 1000 replica corals and sponges; more than 200 overhanging tropical palms and plants; and a 3D-effect backdrop.
